Green Crack
Green Crack (AKA Green Cush, Mango Crack, etc) – If you haven’t had a hit of the Green Crack yet and the scale of the full review is giving you heartburn, here’s the gist:

The Green Crack strain is everywhere. It may go by different names, like Green Crush, Green Cush (pronounced like a K), Green Candy, and so on and so forth, since anything with crack in the name is a little off-putting.
However, I digress. Legend has it that the strain was originally called Green Cush anyway. The belief these days is that it’s only called Green Crack thanks to Snoop, who re-named it for its shot-of-espresso level effects. However, it might be that it was always named Green Crack, and it’s getting the Cush treatment since the industry wants to break the stigma and not compare weed to coke. I’m going to keep calling it Green Crack, though. I’m old—have pity.
Nobody really knows for certain where it comes from, but digging through those old-school forums that haven’t changed since the 90s, I found a little backstory. Apparently, a breeder by the name of Cecil C. based in Athens, Ohio, bred it from a cross between Skunk #1 and an Indica landrace strain, or bagseed. There are also rumors circulating that some other third strain was tossed into the mix at some point, so all we know for sure is that Skunk #1 is in there somewhere.
Cecil C. only gave out clones of the plant, so these days, it’s not all that likely that you’re getting the actual original thing unless your guy knew that guy and had one of the cuttings from the original mother plant. Regardless, the Green Crack seeds sold online might be a little watered down generically, but they’re still close enough to the real thing that the effects still shine through.
Those effects have kept it on dispensary shelves since the 90s. An OG that you can still find everywhere is a great sign, and I’ve kept it on hand throughout most of my life.
The Essentials
Green Crack is a heavily sativa-leaning hybrid cross between Skunk #1 and a mystery strain or two, thought to be bred by the mysterious Cecil C in Ohio. Also known as Green Cush, Green Candy, or Mango Crack, the strain offers a potent cerebral buzz that I’d compare to a cup of coffee. It’s going to energize you and make you feel alert— maybe even a little paranoid if you have too much, but it’s nothing crazy and ultimately pretty balanced.
On average, it usually ranges from 16-21% THC, and my bag checked in at the top of that spectrum at 20%. However, those mental effects come from the terps and the entourage effect they share with the THC. She’s rich in Myrcene, b–Caryophyllene, and Pinene. Pinene is one of the most focusing and energizing terps out there, and it makes up the majority of plants.
Why do you think you feel so energized when you’re walking in the woods? It’s the pinene, dude. Strains labeled as sativas, like Green Crack, usually have a lot of pinene in them.
Looks
They got one thing right with the name— she sure is green. The bag I picked up is full of your typical Green Crack buds. They’re compact and spade-shaped, ranging in shades from light green to golden yellow. Each one has bright red to amber-colored pistils and a light coating of trichomes that give them a frosty appearance. I probably couldn’t pick her out of a lineup, but she’s pretty.
Smell
A lot of Skunk strains have that roadkill-esque aroma to them, but Green Crack is different. I’ll admit, this bag was a little dry, but grinding the flowers brought all of the scents to light. Green Crack is very herbal and woodsy. It’s fresh and piney, though there is a hint of sharp, sour citrus in the background somewhere.
Flavor
Surprisingly, the flavor is a lot different than the aroma. You get a lot of those natural terps on the nose, but inhaling it brings out a lot of sweet and sour notes, like tropical fruit and a lot of citrus. I think it goes without saying, but any review that says weed tastes like sugared berries and vanilla is leaving out an important note: it still tastes like weed, man. Yeah, I noticed those tropical notes are in there, but that sharp, earthy funk you get with every strain is the dominant flavor.
Effects
I smoked a bowl from this bag by myself and set everything up to do some housework, but I ended up calling my mom instead because the mental lift was strong and motivating. I was also feeling very social and talkative, and I was pretty sure my dog was getting weirded out by me frantically talking to myself about nothing. Anyway, I chatted with her for a few minutes about everything and nothing all at once, and then I went on my merry way to wash some dishes and fold some clothes.
It gave me a nice energy boost, and I was able to focus on my housework even if I was stressed out about all the things I had to do at first. I will admit the come-up was a bit of a rough ride at first. I hit the bong one too many times, and the energy boost made me feel a little paranoid. But other than that, I’d still choose it anytime I was feeling unmotivated, stressed, or sluggish. A word to the wise: Start slow with this one. She packs a punch.

I picked up my bag from the dispensary across the street. Green Crack is a staple strain, so you can find it pretty much anywhere. That availability comes in clutch if you want something familiar that you know will help you with a lack of motivation, fatigue, or stress.
